BODEGAS SANCHA
Located at the entrance to Baños de Río Tobía, Juan Carlos Sancha's winery is a project deeply rooted in the Rioja winemaking tradition, evoking the image of a small Burgundian château surrounded by its own vineyards.
Founded in 1997, after an extensive national and international career, Sancha is committed to vindicate the value of native varieties, with special emphasis on the Garnacha from Alto Najerilla, and to recover almost disappeared grape varieties such as Maturana Tinta, Maturana Blanca and Monastel. Its 24 hectares of organic vineyards, divided into small plots on poor, limestone soils, allow it to produce wines of great freshness and character, faithful to the environment in which they were born.
The winery defends a philosophy based on minimum intervention, absolute respect for the terroir and sustainability, practising organic viticulture committed to biodiversity and the health of the vineyard. Without the use of chemicals and with intensive field work, the aim is to authentically express the identity of the region, honouring the legacy of the ancestors and the knowledge passed down through generations. The result is sincere, soulful wines that reflect the essence of the Alto Najerilla and a way of understanding Rioja based on passion, experience and a deep respect for the land.
