CELLER AIXALÁ I ALCAIT
In the picturesque village of Torroja del Priorat, right in the heart of the DOQ Priorat, Aixalà i Alcait has been crafting wines with real character since 2005. Though the family has been tending vines since the 1980s, it wasn’t until 2005 that they began making their own wine. Since then, they’ve remained true to the passion that started it all, working with deep respect for the land, tradition, and the unique spirit of this region.
Priorat is a demanding land. Its steep slopes and slate soils, known locally as llicorella, give the wines a distinctive identity. Here, where the landscape sets the pace and time seems to move more slowly, each bottle tells the story of the place it comes from.
Since 2008, Aixalà i Alcait has been farming organically, not as a trend but as a commitment. Their approach to sustainability isn’t about ticking boxes; it’s about a genuine belief that small actions matter. Looking after the land they love is, for them, a way of caring for something bigger. And doing so in a region that has overcome its share of challenges makes every harvest all the more meaningful.
